Death is the permanent, irreversible cessation of all biological functions that sustain a whole living organism. It is an inevitable, universal process that eventually occurs in all living organisms.

Something that is not considered a living organism, such as a computer or car, can be physically destroyed but is not said to die.

What about the death of an idea or the death of a time in your life?

In poetry we tend to read negative attitudes due to death’s associations with misery and grievance, this is not surprising.
